100 years ago, in May 1921, Coco Chanel launched her Perfume Chanel No 5.

The iconic perfume Chanel No 5 was created by Ernest Beaux, former perfumier to the Russian Tsars. The  fragrance  was named No 5 because it was the 5th scent (out of 10) presented to Mademoiselle Chanel which she chose to signify her.

In 1953 the perfume become world renown when actress Marilyn Monroe replied

-‘Two drops of Chanel No 5’, when asked what she was wearing when sleeping.
