Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel

founded luxury goods designer brand Chanel in 1910 when she opened her first hat shop in 21 rue Cambon in Paris. She started her career as a milliner, creating beautiful hats.

Business grew  and in 1913 she opened her first shop in Deauville introducing a sportswear collection. In 1926 The Little Black Dress (LBD) was born. In the early 1920 the iconic perfume Chanel No 5 was unveiled.

Chanel ‘s classic Flap bag, 2.55, is launched in February 1955 (2nd month 1955 ).  With a shoulder chain, the bag was an instant hit as it liberated women’s hands from the classic handbag. The clasp on the 2.55 bag is called “Mademoiselle” as Gabrielle Chanel never married. The interlinked double CC clasp was launched in 1984 when Karl Lagerfeld became Artistic Director of the Chanel.

The Chanel 2.55 Flap Bag is an icon with a high vintage value. The Chanel tweed, tote  and WOC (wallet on chain) are sought after in both lambskin, calfskin, caviar or vintage leather.
